Defcon Puff

I am exasperated over all of the rain we have had these past few days. The sun has decided to take a vacation from our neck of the woods. The sky has looked like night decided to overstay its welcome and my hair has frizzed out WAY beyond the normal, safe levels. My locks have been on “defcon puff” alert so much that the alarms have not stopped warning me that my entire head may be taken over by a hair army. It’s wet out.

Side Note: I hate it when it is “misting” outside. Either rain or go home weather! Go all in or get out!

Just going to stay out of the blah thank you very much!

When my hair gets to critical mass and Mr. C. Cow is moo-crying over his hoofs getting muddy we know it’s not the weather for us. One time I caught Mr. C. Cow washing his muddy hoofs in the kitchen sink. This takes considerable stretching exercises beforehand to be able to put a hoof in a sink. It might get dirt all over the place but at least he’s exercising.

When it showers outside I like to curl up with a good book. Maybe a glass of wine. Wrap myself up like a fuzzy blanket burrito on the couch. Mr. C. Cow is the complete opposite. It’s like precipitation drives him bonkers. He has to do EVERYTHING all at once. Put together a puzzle while playing cards. Bake a cake and a pie while tap dancing in the kitchen. When it’s not raining outside he’s more than content to be a lump on the floor watching television. I’m not sure if precipitation hyperactivity is a thing but it sure is for him.

Rain: Pretty Mud Maker

So far today he’s reorganized the spice cupboard in alphabetical order and made a reminder list to remind himself to make a list to remember. If Mr. C. Cow is going to get so wound up then I might be able to get him to clean his muddy hoof prints off the kitchen ceiling.

Rainy Day Hoof Covers

We’ve been getting a lot of rain lately. So much rain that I’ve sometimes felt that the sun had gone on vacation. Last month it rained for three days in a row. I thought that the sun had skipped vacation and decided to just retire. All of this rain was getting tiresome and there was more on the way.

“April Showers Bring Wet Grass So Don’t Even Try To Mow The Lawn Today.” – Something or other that Bishop said last month.

Mr. C. Cow LOVES the rain. He likes to stomp in puddles and do some sort of rain dance. His rain dance involves a lot of booty wiggling and hoof clapping. Since we were going to be getting lots more rain (and a few thunderstorms!) Mr. C. went online to, who knows where, and bought himself a new pair of “rainy day hoof covers”. I snapped a picture of him outside during our last rain in his hoof covers.

Wet Cow!

I wonder where he goes to buy “rainy day hoof covers”. He’s been wearing his yellow ones with the blue swirls a lot lately but also owns a pair of pink ones with green stars. Maybe, for his birthday, I’ll get him a raincoat and hat to match.

Mr. C. Cow loves to puddle stomp but knows to come in when it starts to thunder. Do you remember the saying “When it roars go indoors?”. He follows that rule better than anyone I know. As soon as it starts to “Kraaaaaaarrk” out side he’s inside before it can even finish its last “aarrk”. I’m glad he’s into weather safety because I don’t want to see him get zapped by lightning or something worse. Mr. C. also knows that I am deathly afraid of thunderstorms. While at home Bishop will keep me occupied with tales of heavy machinery while Mr. C. Cow makes us all hot cocoa. If Marslean is around she’ll sometimes play cards with me while Mr. C. Cow makes us all hot cocoa. (Mr. C. has a fondness for hot cocoa.)

“Hot Cocoa Makes Everything In This World Better!” – Something Mr. C. Cow said this month.

I know that a lot of places have been hit hard by the weather as of late. Our thoughts go out to you! If you would like to help out those who have had disaster hit their lives then I recommend you check out the Red Cross to see what you can do to help.

Boom Pow Crash

Mr. C. Cow and I got stuck on a beach the other day in the middle of a HUGE thunderstorm. We watched it roll in and there was nothing we could do about it. Outrunning it wasn’t an option and, as I explained to Mr. C. Cow, we were not about to pretend to be Ben Franklin. I didn’t want to learn about electricity by tying a key to a kite. Especially when it was the key to the camper.I know he had a kite hidden somewhere in the camper but where he got a Ben Franklin historical reenactment outfit is beyond me.

I talked him out storm kite flying by offering to play cow checkers with him. Cow checkers are different from regular checkers. Basically you just let him move the checkers around and cheer when he gets them across the board. It’s hard to move tiny round objects with hoofs. Just getting them to move where you want instead of shooting across the camper is a victory on it’s own.

After about 500 or so rounds of cow checkers we just sat and watched the rain out the window. Listened to the pitter patter and KAAA BOOOMs of the storm. I’m really glad that Mr. C. Cow isn’t afraid of storms. It would be hard to keep a cow calm in such a small space. Can you imagine the mess? Cow hoofs on the ceiling. Mr. C. Cow hiding in the camper bathroom. Toothpaste stepped on and shot all over the window.

I think I’m going to take a page from the world of Franklin and drink a glass of wine till the storm passes.
